It’s time to protect your investment. Sensor encryption gives you and your customers added protection with a more secure, hack-proof system. We’ll walk you through what encryption is and why it’s important to not only your customers, but for your RMR!
What is encryption?
Encryption is the process of encoding information or a signal where only authorized devices or people can gain access to the information. Without encrypted sensors, your customers’ data is at risk, putting your company at risk as well.
What’s in it for me?
The most important thing sensor encryption can offer you and your customers is protection. It truly protects your investment.
How encryption protects from attacks
Our 2GIG GC2e and GC3e panels along with the eSeries Sensors utilize a best-in-class security framework to protect the end user from several different hacking attacks. The two main types of hacks are “capture and replay”, and “man in the middle.”
With “capture and replay,” a hacker can tap into a system with an unencrypted door or window sensors and capture the door closed signal. The hacker can then replay the sensor signal to tell the system the door is closed even if door is open. Even worse, if the hacker captures the data from an unencrypted key fob. The hacker can then use that captured data to actually disarm the system.
“Man in the middle” allows the hacker to “listen” by capturing decoded or unencrypted information. The hacker can then alter the data between the sensors and panel, to show different open and close states.
How 2GIG security helps
We offer two different security panels, the 2GIG GC2e and GC3e that offer encryption, along with 14 different encrypted sensors — from door/window sensors to glass break, and smoke. If you’re buying an encrypted panel – make sure you add encrypted sensors to offer the full peace of mind security experience! Whatever your job needs, we have the encrypted sensor you’re looking for!
New Marketing Materials Available
Throughout the 2GIG website, marketing materials, and packaging, you will see an “e” within a bright green triangle, in the top right corner. This means the product is encrypted, ensuring you can install fully encrypted systems with confidence.
We have updated and created new materials with encryption focused messaging. From door hangers, to social posts, and now a new video! Watch our quick video that walks you through all the awesome benefits of encryption, and share with your customers so they see the added value you offer!
